A hearty welcome to the Department of Commerce at Theivanai Ammal College for Women (Autonomous), Villupuram. We started our journey in the year of 1989. Over the last three decades, we have grown our expertise and competence in the core commerce curriculum and research. The department runs three undergraduate programs viz. B.Com. (Commerce), B.Com. (Commerce with Computer Application) and B.Com. (International Accounting and Taxation) and one PG program viz. M.Com. (Commerce). The Department offers Ph.D. program in Commerce (Full-time & Part-time). The department vision is to be excellence in value based on Commerce Education. The department has well qualified and dedicated faculty. The department strives to impart knowledge and training of the highest standard. The objective of the department is to prepare students for a successful career in Industry, Research and Academics. Students are given training in the Banking and Insurance Industries to get practical exposure.
For the overall development of the student; Department of Commerce is associated with memberships of professional bodies such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK and International Skill Development Corporation, Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India, Kolkata and Indian Institute of Banking and Finance, Mumbai.
We formulated a Commerce Club i.e., Pacioli’s Club is conducting various activities for the student to inculcate the students creativity and innovative practice.
Students have taken part in various competitions and won top positions in National Level Accounting Talent Exam organized by Indian Accounting Association. Students of commerce department also bagged prizes in academics as well in co-curricular activities. Students secured a gold medal and University Ranks at Thiruvalluvar University examinations. Students showcase their talent in various sports and intercollegiate cultural events and bag prizes. Our graduates are working in Multinational Companies as Chartered Accountants and Cost and Management Accountants and Academic Institutions in India and abroad.
