About the Department

The department was established in 1994 with 29 students and grew into PG department with M.Sc Bioinformatics in 2009 and M.Sc. Bio-Chemistry in 2015 to impart quality education in the field of Life Science. Later it grew into research department by introducing M.Phil in 2019 and Ph.D in 2020.

The curriculum is designed to encompass latest advancements and updates in the field. It offers a well balanced set of courses along with certificate (Medical coding) and diploma (Medical Lab Technology) courses as add on course in collaboration with external agencies in order to equip the students to pursue higher studies and placement.

The department conducts Invited lecture through video conference, National and International conferences, encourages students to undergo Summer Internship programme, Experiential learning and Industrial visit for practical exposure and skill development.

The department has excellent infrastructure facilities with sophisticated equipments procured. Qualified and experienced Faculty members are an asset to the department.

It endeavors to promote interaction with the industry and to take up Research & Development activities for the betterment of society through innovative projects at UG, PG and research level such as TNSCST and DST FIST.
